Helios New School is excited to announce that the American Conservatory Theater will be the Artists in Residence for the Helios Musical Theater Summer Camp Program in 2010. Details available in late November. Registration will begin in January 2010!
Every Spring, A.C.T.’s Young Conservatory leads the students of Helios New School through a full exploration of the creative self, including daily exposure to theater games, singing and dancing, and physical character. The 2-week residency culminates in the development of an original theater piece presented for invited family and friends. Helios is thrilled to make the A.C.T.’s Young Conservatory program available as 2-week Summer Camps and is grateful to the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center for hosting each camp’s final performance in the breathtaking Albert and Janet Schultz Cultural Arts Center on the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life.
MESSAGE FROM THE
HEAD OF SCHOOL:
Welcome to Helios New School!
We are thrilled to be in beautiful new classrooms on the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life. We are filled with excited anticipation as we get closer to moving into our own suite of classrooms on campus. We’ve worked with architects for months crafting the exact specifications needed to create an environment consistent with our asynchronous, child-centered learning philosophy. Meanwhile, we’ve been enjoying our interim classrooms and the benefits of the campus. We are excited to be part a landmark “green” development on the mid-peninsula.
We believe it is our job, as educators and parents, to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to meet her full academic, social, emotional and physical potential. At Helios New School we recognize that the gifted child presents unique challenges as he learns and grows. It is often difficult to accommodate the needs of the gifted child in a traditional elementary school setting.
At Helios New School, we understand and support each individual student’s singular drive, pace and desire to learn, explore, collaborate and create community. Our constructivist environment offers your gifted child the daily joy that comes from being with other children who are “like” them and wish to “go deep” into topics. Here, your child will be embraced and nurtured; his passions will be encouraged and extended. Our extraordinary students make HNS a dynamic, exciting and inspiring place to be. We look forward learning more about your child.
